000 TTAA00 KLCH 102213 RRA SVRLCH LAC045-102300- BULLETIN - IMMEDIATE BROADCAST REQUESTED SEVERE THUNDERSTORM WARNING NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE LAKE CHARLES LA 501 PM CDT WED SEP 10 1997 THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE IN LAKE CHARLES HAS ISSUED A SEVERE THUNDERSTORM WARNING EFFECTIVE UNTIL 600 PM CDT FOR PEOPLE IN THE FOLLOWING LOCATION... IN SOUTH CENTRAL LOUISIANA ...SOUTH CENTRAL IBERIA PARISH AND ADJACENT COASTAL WATERS AT 500 PM NWS DOPPLER RADARS INDICATED A SEVERE THUNDERSTORM 7 MILES NORTH OF WEEKS MOVING SOUTH AT 20 MPH. THIS STORM WILL BE NEAR WEEKS AT 525 PM. LARGE HAIL AND DAMAGING WINDS IN EXCESS OF 55 MPH ARE THE MAIN THREATS FROM THIS STORM. WHEN THUNDERSTORMS ARE OCCURRING...PEOPLE SHOUnLD MOVE INSIDE A STRONG BUILDING. DO NOT STAND BY WINDOWS. DON'T USE TELEPHONES OR ELECTRICAL APPLIANCES UNLESS IN AN EMERGENCY UNTIL THE STORM HAS PASSED. MOTORISTS SHOULD NOT DRIVE INTO LOW WATER CROSSINGS.
