000 TTAA00 KLCH 271946 RRA SVRLCH LAC079-272045- BULLETIN - IMMEDIATE BROADCAST REQUESTED SEVERE THUNDERSTORM WARNING NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE LAKE CHARLES LA 142 PM CST MON JAN 27 1997 THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE IN LAKE CHARLES HAS ISSUED A SEVERE THUNDERSTORM WARNING EFFECTIVE UNTIL 245 PM CST FOR PEOPLE IN THE FOLLOWING LOCATION... IN CENTRAL LOUISIANA ...RAPIDES PARISH AT 145 PM DOPPLER RADAR INDICATED A SEVERE THUNDERSTORM 10 MILES SOUTHWEST OF ALEXANDRIA MOVING NORTHEAST AT 25 MPH. ALEXANDRIA AND PINEVILLE IS IN THE PATH OF THE STORM. MAIN THREAT IS LARGE HAIL AND WINDS IN EXCESS OF 55 MPH. WHEN THUNDERSTORMS ARE OCCURRING...PEOPLE SHOULD MOVE INSIDE A STRONG BUILDING. DO NOT STAND BY WINPDOWS. DON'T USE TELEPHONES OR ELECTRICAL APPLIANCES UNLESS IN AN EMERGENCY UNTIL THE STORM HAS PASSED. MOTORISTS SHOULD NOT DRIVE INTO LOW WATER CROSSINGS.
