000 TTAA00 KFWA 190322 RRA SVRFWA INC003-OHC039-190400- BULLETIN - IMMEDIATE BROADCAST REQUESTED SEVERE THUNDERSTORM WARNING NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE FORT WAYNE IN 1021 PM EST (1121 PM EDT) SUN MAY 18 1997 THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE IN FORT WAYNE HAS ISSUED A SEVERE THUNDERSTORM WARNING EFFECTIVE UNTIL 1100 PM EST(MIDNIGHT EDT) FOR PEOPLE IN THE FOLLOWING LOCATIONS... IN NORTHEAST INDIANA ...ALLEN COUNTY IN NORTHWEST OHIO ...DEFIANCE COUNTY AT 1020 PM EST RADAR INDICATED A LINE OF SEVERE THUNDERSTORMS JUST NORTH OF FORT WAYNE INDIANA TO 20 MILES NORTHWEST OF DEFIANCE OHIO. THIS LINE WAS MOVING SOUTHEAST AT 45 MPH AND CONTAINED DAMAGING WINDS AND HAIL. PERSONS IN THE CITIES OF FORT WAYNE AND DEFIANCE OHIO SHOULD MOVE TO A PLACE OF SAFETY AS THIS LINE MOVES THROUGH THEIR AREA. AT 1017 PM EST DAMAGING WINDS WERE REPORTED IN WATERLOO INDIANA. A TORNADO WATCH IS ALSO IN EFFECT FOR THE WARNED AREA. REMEMBER SEVERE THUNDERSTORMS CAN AND OCCASIONALLY DO PRODUCE TORNADOES WITH LITTLE OR NO ADVANCE WARNING.
