SOUTHEAST TEXAS FORECAST DISCUSSION NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE HOUSTON/GALVESTON TX 928 AM CST WED MAR 12 1997 WELL WARRANTED FLASH FLOOD WATCH IN EFFECT AS SITUATION HAS BECOME VERY SERIOUS...MORE HEAVY RAIN ON THE WAY AS A LARGE CLUSTER MOVES INTO THE AREA FROM THE GULF. AM EXPECTING ADDITIONAL WIDESPREAD 1-2 INCH AMOUNTS WITH ISOLATED 3 INCH AMOUNTS MAINLY EAST OF AN EDNA TO SEALY TO CONROE TO GROVETON LINE...THIS WILL INCLUDE THE HOUSTON METRO AREA WHICH HAS ALREADY HAD SIGNIFICANT FLOODING WITH RAINFALL TOTALS ALONG A HIGHWAY 288/US-59 CORRIDOR OF 2.5" TO 4.5". WILL CONTINUE THE HIGH POPS...FLASH FLOOD WATCH WILL LIKELY SEE THE HEAVY RAIN COME TO AN END BY 8 PM. SFC LOW MOVING SLOWLY EAST OF THE AREA.
