FLASH FLOOD WARNING EFFECTIVE UNTIL  130 PM EST
FOR PEOPLE IN THE FOLLOWING LOCATION...
 
IN WEST NORTH CAROLINA
 
   ...HAYWOOD COUNTY
 
HEAVY RAIN FELL ACROSS HAYWOOD COUNTY FOR MUCH OF THE MORNING. OVER
THREE INCHES OF RAIN HAD FALLEN OVER THE PAST 24 HOURS ACROSS THE
WESTERN AND SOUTHERN PORTIONS OF THE COUNTY.
 
AS A RESULT OF THE RAIN...JONATHAN CREEK WAS RISING OUT OF ITS BANKS
AT 1015 AM. A CAMPGROUND WAS BEGINNING TO FLOOD NEAR COVE CREEK.
FLOODING WAS ALSO DEVELOPING NEAR APARTMENTS AND BUSINESSES BETWEEN
DELLWOOD AND JONATHAN...4 MILES NORTHWEST OF WAYNESVILLE.
 
NUMEROUS OTHER CREEKS AND STREAM WERE APPROACHING BANKFUL...INCLUDING
THE WEST FORK OF THE PIGEON RIVER NEAR BETHEL. PERIODS OF HEAVY RAIN
FALLING ON SATURATED SOILS WILL ADD TO THE FLOODING PROBLEMS.
ADDITIONAL FLOODING WILL DEVELOP IN HAYWOOD COUNTY INTO EARLY
AFTERNOON.
 
PEOPLE IN THE WARNED AREA...ESPECIALLY CAMPERS...SHOULD SEEK
HIGHER GROUND WITHOUT DELAY. DO NOT STAY IN AREARS SUBJECT TO
FLOODING WHEN WATERS BEGIN TO RISE.
