AREA FORECAST DISCUSSION NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE GOODLAND KS 215 PM MDT (315 PM CDT) TUE JUL 8 1997 ...PROBLEM OF DAY THUNDERSTORMS TONIGHT... SOUNDINGS...SAT DERIVED PRODUCTS...ADAP...ETC HAVE AREA EXTREMELY UNSTABLE THIS AFTERNOON WITH ERODING CAP. WINDS HAVE GONE UPSLOPE WITH MORE INFLOW OF ADDITIONAL UNSTABLE AIR IN RESPONSE TO SMALL LOW SOUTHERN PORTION OF CWA. MORNING CLOUDS AND EARLIER STORMS HAVE LEFT SOME BOUNDARIES OVER THE AREA. SO...WE SHOULD SEE A LOT OF CONVECTION ONCE CAP BREAKS. ALSO...OFTEN IN THIS PATTERN STUFF THAT FORMS OVER CO BECOMES MORE WIDESPREAD AS IT MOVES INTO MORE UNSTABLE AIR DOWN THE HILL. WILL GO WELL ABOVE GUIDANCE. SEVERE STORMS MORE PROBLEMATIC IN ABSENCE OF MUCH SHEAR...BUT WITH CAPES AT LEAST 3500 PULSY STUFF WITH NUISANCE SEVERE WEATHER POSSIBLE. AFTER TONIGHT...DRIER WITH ALL MODELS AGREEING ABOUT RIDGE BUILDING ALOFT AS BIG SYSTEM IN SOUTHWEST TRIES TO NUDGE THINGS EAST. WAS NOT WILLING TO UNDERCUT 20-30 POPS WED NIGHT DUE TO UNCERTAINTY WE HAVE HAD WITH NOCTURNAL PRECIP LATELY. FOR TEMPS MOS HAS BEEN TOO COOL DAYS AND GOOD NIGHTS LATELY. EXPECT THIS TO CONTINUE UNTIL REGIME CHANGES MORE. KWIATKOWSKI
