THIS SLIGHT RISK AREA IS FOR THAT PART OF NORTH TEXAS SOUTH AND EAST OF A LAMPASAS... WEATHERFORD...EMORY LINE...AND INCLUDES THE CITIES OF ATHENS... CENTERVILLE...CORSICANA...HILLSBORO...KILLEEN...TEMPLE...WACO...AND THE DALLAS/FORT WORTH METROPLEX. THE PRIMARY THREAT OF SEVERE WEATHER WILL BE FROM LARGE HAIL AND DAMAGING STRAIGHT-LINE WINDS. AT MIDDAY...A POWERFUL UPPER LEVEL STORM SYSTEM WAS LOCATED OVER SOUTHEASTERN NEW MEXICO. THIS STORM SYSTEM WILL ACT ON ABUNDANT GULF MOISTURE TO PRODUCE WIDESPREAD RAIN AND EMBEDDED THUNDERSTORMS OVER NORTH TEXAS THROUGH TONIGHT. WHILE THE ATMOSPHERE NEAR THE SURFACE IS COOL AND STABLE...THE ATMOSPHERE IS MODERATELY UNSTABLE ALOFT. AS A RESULT...ELEVATED STRONG TO OCCASIONALLY SEVERE THUNDERSTORMS ARE POSSIBLE OVER THE SOUTHEASTERN HALF OF NORTH TEXAS THROUGH THIS EVENING. LARGE HAIL AND DAMAGING WINDS APPEAR TO BE THE SIGNIFICANT SEVERE WEATHER THREAT. WHILE ONE OR TWO SUPERCELL THUNDERSTORMS ARE POSSIBLE...MAINLY OVER THE SOUTHERN PORTIONS OF THE SLIGHT RISK AREA...THE TORNADO THREAT APPEARS LOW AT THIS TIME. THESE THUNDERSTORMS WILL BE CAPABLE OF PRODUCING RAINFALL AMOUNTS BETWEEN 1 AND 2 INCHES PER HOUR...AND FLASH FLOODING IS POSSIBLE THROUGH TONIGHT OVER THE WESTERN TWO-THIRDS OF NORTH TEXAS THROUGH DAYBREAK SATURDAY.
