IN CENTRAL ARIZONA ...NORTHEASTERN YAVAPAI COUNTY AT 545 PM MST...FLAGSTAFF DOPPLER RADAR INDICATED OVER 3 INCHES OF RAIN HAD FALLEN IN LESS THAN AN HOUR OVER IN A AREA 10 MILES SOUTH SOUTHWEST OF COTTONWOOD. CANYONS AND CREEKS IN THIS AREA WILL LIKELY FLOOD...ENDANGERING NEARBY CAMPGROUNDS AND ROADS. IF FLASH FLOODING IS OBSERVED...ACT QUICKLY. MOVE UPHILL TO ESCAPE FLOOD WATERS. NORTHERN ARIZONA FORECAST DISCUSSION NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE FLAGSTAFF AZ 200 PM MST THU AUG 28 1997 ETA GENERALLY HAS THE BEST HANDLE WITH WHAT IS HAPPENING AND OVERALL GUIDANCE LOOKS REASONABLE SO I DID NOT MAKE MANY CHANGES TO WHAT WAS GIVEN. THE UPPER-AIR FLOW BECOMES MORE WESTERLY WITH TIME GIVING US A SLIGHT DECREASE IN ACTIVITY INTO THE WEEKEND. CONVECTIVE ACTIVITY IN OUR CWA HAS BEEN SOMEWHAT SLOW FOR TODAY SO FAR. EXPECT THIS ACTIVITY TO CONTINUE WELL INTO THE EVENING AND BECOME MORE WIDESPREAD IN COVERAGE BEFORE ENDING AROUND MIDNIGHT IN MOST LOCATIONS. NOT MUCH OF A CHANGE EXPECTED FOR THE NEXT COUPLE DAYS EXCEPT FOR A SLIGHT DECREASE IN CONVECTIVE ACTIVITY AND A SLIGHT COOLING WITH TIME.
