000 TTAA00 KSAT 110559 FFWSAT TXC123-177-285-111300- BULLETIN - EAS ACTIVATION REQUESTED FLASH FLOOD WARNING NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE AUSTIN/SAN ANTONIO TX 1257 AM CDT FRI APR 11 1997 THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE IN AUSTIN/SAN ANTONIO HAS ISSUED A FLASH FLOOD WARNING EFFECTIVE UNTIL 800 AM CDT FOR PEOPLE IN THE FOLLOWING LOCATIONS... IN SOUTH CENTRAL TEXAS ...DE WITT COUNTY...GONZALES COUNTY...LAVACA COUNTY HEAVY RAINS CONTINUE TO FALL OVER NORTHERN DEWITT COUNDY...LAVACA COUNTY...AND SOUTHEAST GONZALES COUNTY. INTENSE RAINS IN THE YOAKUM...HOCHEIM...SHINER TRIANGLE HAVE RESULTED IN MAJOR FLOODING PROBLEMS FROM RAINFALL TOTALS APPROACHING 10 INCHES SINCE THURSDAY EVENING THAT WILL CONTINUE THROUGH THE MORNING HOURS. THIS IS AN EXTREMELY DANGEROUS EVENT. TRAVEL IS NOT RECOMMENED UNLESS ESCAPING FROM FLOODING. BE ESPECIALLY CAUTIOUS AT NIGHT WHEN IT IS HARDER TO RECOGNIZE THE DANGERS OF FLOODS AND FLASH FLOODS. IF FLASH FLOODING IS OBSERVED ACT QUICKLY. MOVE UP TO HIGHER GROUND TO ESCAPE FLOOD WATERS. DO NOT STAY IN AREAS SUBJECT TO FLOODING WHEN WATER BEGINS RISING. AVOID ALREADY FLOODED AREAS.
