NORTHWEST MISSOURI FORECAST DISCUSSION
NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE PLEASANT HILL/KANSAS CITY MO
241 PM CDT THU JUN 12 1997

CONVECTIVE POTENTIAL CONTINUES TO BE MAIN FORECAST PROBLEM THROUGH
PERIOD. VISIBLE SATELLITE IMAGERY AND SURFACE ANALYSIS SHOWS
SURFACE BOUNDARY FROM NORTHERN MO BACK INTO CENTRAL KS THIS
AFTERNOON. PLENTY OF LOW-LEVEL MOISTURE AVAILABLE...HOWEVER VERY
LITTLE UPPER LEVEL SUPPORT TO AID IN THE DEVELOPMENT OF CONVECTION
OVER OUR FORECAST AREA. IN ANY CASE...FEEL THAT DIURNAL HEATING
COMBINED WITH BOUNDARY SHOULD BE SUFFICIENT TO PRODUCE SOME
SCATTERED SHOWERS AND THUNDERSTORMS LATE THIS AFTERNOON INTO THIS
EVENING...ESPECIALLY SOUTH OF THE BOUNDARY.

MODELS ALL SEEM TO BE HINTING AT MORE ORGANIZED CONVECTION
DEVELOPING OUT OVER SOUTH CENTRAL KS/NORTH CENTRAL OK. FAVORED
TRACK WOULD TAKE RESULTING MCS INTO SOUTHWEST MO AND NORTHWEST AR
OVERNIGHT. MCS SHOULD PUSH BOUNDARY FURTHER SOUTH DURING OVERNIGHT
AND TOMORROW...HOWEVER BACK DOOR BOUNDARY APPROACHES FORECAST AREA
FROM NORTH. BEST MOISTURE CONVERGENCE AND LEFTOVER CONVECTION WILL
BE WELL TO THE SOUTH OF FORECAST AREA AND WILL LIKELY ROB ANY
AVAILABLE ENERGY FOR CONVECTIVE DEVELOPMENT OVER OUR FORECAST AREA.
HOWEVER...WITH DAYTIME HEATING AND BOUNDARY IN AREA LATE TOMORROW
AFTERNOON WILL KEEP CHANCE POPS IN FOR FRIDAY.

BOUNDARY PUSHING INTO NORTHERN MISSOURI TOMORROW WASHES OUT BY
SATURDAY AND MAIN FOCUS FOR CONVECTION SHOULD REMAIN WELL SOUTH OF
THE FORECAST AREA.

WILL GO A LITTLE ABOVE FWC/FAN GUIDANCE TEMPERATURES FOR
HIGHS...BUT LOWS LOOK TO BE IN BALLPARK.

.EAX...NONE.
