000 TTAA00 KCYS 250310 FFWCYS NEC007-157-250500- BULLETIN - EAS ACTIVATION REQUESTED FLASH FLOOD WARNING NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE CHEYENNE WY 909 PM MDT SAT MAY 24 1997 * FLASH FLOOD WARNING FOR SCOTTS BLUFF COUNTY IN WESTERN NEBRASKA PANHANDLE BANNER COUNTY IN WESTERN NEBRASKA PANHANDLE * UNTIL 1100 PM MDT * SOME AFFECTED LOCATIONS INCLUDE SCOTTSBLUFF/GERING HARRISBURG MELBETA MINATARE * CAUSE AND EFFECT AT 900 PM MDT...THUNDERSTORMS WITH VERY HEAVY RAINFALL CONTINUE TO REDEVELOP AND MOVE OVER SOUTHWESTERN SECTION OF THE NEBRASKA PANHANDLE. RAINFALL AMOUTS FROM THESE STORMS HAVE BEEN UP TO 2 TO 3 INCHES AN HOUR. THIS HAS RESULTED IN UP TO 4 INCHES OF RAIN OVER SOME LOCATINS IN BANNER AND SCOTTS BLUFF COUNTIES THIS EVENING. STREET FLOODING WAS REPORTED IN BOTH SCOTTSBLUFF AND GERING AND HIGHWAY 71 8 MILES SOUTH OF SCOTTSBLUFF WAS REPORTED UNDER WATER. AS THESE STORMS CONTINUE TO MOVE OVER THE SAME LOCATIONS THIS EVENING...FLOODING WILL BECOME WIDESPREAD. THUNDERSTORMS WERE ALSO PERSISTING OVER KIMBALL COUNTY. ANOTHER AREA OF STRONG THUNDERSTORMS WILL BE MOVING OVER KIMBALL THROUGH 10 PM. THIS WILL CONTINUE TO CAUSE MAJOR FLOODING OVER THE ROADS. DO NOT ATTEMPT TO CROSS BRIDGES...DIPS...OR LOW SPOTS IF WATER COVERS THE ROADWAY. THE ROADBED MAY BE WASHED OUT. REMEMBER...MOST FLASH FLOOD DEATHS OCCUR IN AUTOMOBILES AND AT NIGHT. & DMM
