000 TTAA00 KCRP 072330 FFWCRP TXC297-080230- BULLETIN - EAS ACTIVATION REQUESTED FLASH FLOOD WARNING NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE CORPUS CHRISTI TX 628 PM CDT TUE OCT 7 1997 THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE IN CORPUS CHRISTI HAS ISSUED A FLASH FLOOD WARNING EFFECTIVE UNTIL 930 PM CDT FOR PEOPLE IN THE FOLLOWING COUNTY...... IN SOUTH CENTRAL TEXAS ...SOUTHERN LIVE OAK COUNTY NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE DOPPLER RADAR ESTIMATED OVER 3 INCHES OF RAINFALL WITHIN THE PAST HOUR NEAR LAGARTO. THE ADDITIONAL HEAVY RAINS COMBINED WITH THE EARLIER HEAVY RAINFALL TODAY HAS GREATLY INCREASED THE LIKELIHOOD OF FLASH FLOODING IN THE LAGARTO AREA. THE THUNDERSTORM WHICH IS PRODUCING THE HEAVY RAIN HAS SHOWN LITTLE MOVEMENT. AN ADDITIONAL 1 TO 3 INCHES WITHIN A VERY SHORT TIME IS LIKELY ACROSS SOUTHERN LIVE OAK COUNTY...INCREASING THE THREAT OF FLASH FLOODING ALONG CREEKS...RIVERS AND OTHER LOW LYING AREAS. DO NOT DRIVE YOUR VEHICLE INTO AREAS WHERE THE WATER COVERS THEZ ROADWAY. THE WATER DEPTH MAY BE TOO GREAT TO ALLOW YOUR CAR TO CROSS SAFELY. VEHICLES CAUGHT IN RISING WATER SHOULD BE ABANDONED QUICKLY. MOVE TO HIGHER GROUND.
