IN EAST NEW YORK ...NORTHERN SARATOGA COUNTY AT 250 PM NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE DOPPLER RADAR INDICATED A SEVERE THUNDERSTORM ABOUT 5 MILES EAST OF CORINTH. THIS STORM IS MOVING SOUTHEAST ABOUT 10 MILES AN HOUR AND WILL BE NEAR - 5 MILES EAST OF CORINTH AT 255 PM. JUST SOUTHWEST OF GLENS FALLS BETWEEN 300 AND 315 PM. GANSEVOORT NEAR 330 PM. WHEN THUNDERSTORMS ARE OCCURRING...PEOPLE SHOULD MOVE INSIDE A STRONG BUILDING. DO NOT STAND BY WINDOWS. A VERY WARM AND HUMID AIRMASS WILL REMAIN ACROSS EASTERN NEW YORK AND ADJACENT WESTERN NEW ENGLAND THIS AFTERNOON AND EVENING. AS TEMPERATURES RISE DURING THE AFTERNOON THE ATMOSPHERE WILL DESTABILIZE AND THUNDERSTORMS PRODUCING TORRENTIAL RAINFALL WILL DEVELOP. THE THREAT OF VERY HEAVY RAIN WILL INITIALLY BE GREATEST ACROSS THE HIGHER TERRAIN...ESPECIALLY TO THE NORTH OF ALBANY. BY LATE AFTERNOON THUNDERSTORMS WILL BE SCATTERED ACROSS MUCH OF EASTERN NEW YORK AND ADJACENT WESTERN NEW ENGLAND.
