000 TTAA00 KALB 091943 RRA SVRALB CTC005-092030- BULLETIN - EAS ACTIVATION REQUESTED SEVERE THUNDERSTORM WARNING NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE ALBANY NY 345 PM EDT WED JUL 9 1997 THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE IN ALBANY NY HAS ISSUED A SEVERE THUNDERSTORM WARNING EFFECTIVE UNTIL 430 PM EDT FOR PEOPLE IN THE FOLLOWING LOCATION... IN NORTHWEST CONNECTICUT ...LITCHFIELD COUNTY AT 345 PM...DOPPLER RADAR INDICATED A LINE OF SEVERE THUNDERSTORMS FROM WINDSTED AND TORRINGTON TO GAYLORDSVILLE. THESE STORMS WILL CONTINUE ACROSS LITCHFIELD COUNTY...EXITING THE COUNTY BY 430 PM. THE THUNDERSTORMS WERE MOVING TO THE EAST AT 25 MILES AN HOUR. THESE STORMS HAVE A HISTORY OF DOWNING TREES AND POWER LINES. WHEN THUNDERSTORMS ARE OCCURRING...PEOPLE SHOULD MOVE INSIDE A STRONG BUILDING. DO NOT STAND BY WINDOWS. DON'T USE TELEPHONES OR ELECTRICAL APPLIANCES UNLESS IN AN EMERGENCY UNTIL THE STORM HAS PASSED. MOTORISTS SHOULD NOT DRIVE INTO LOW WATER CROSSINGS. KL /HTS
