FLASH FLOOD WARNING EFFECTIVE UNTIL 1130 PM MDT
FOR PEOPLE IN THE FOLLOWING LOCATION...
 
IN EAST CENTRAL NEW MEXICO
 
   ...NORTHEASTERN QUAY COUNTY
 
A STATIONARY THUNDERSTORM OVER THE CANADIAN RIVER EAST OF LOGAN HAS
PRODUCED RAINFALL OF 3 TO 4 INCHES DURING THE PAST 2 HOURS.
 
INTENSE AND RAPID RISES ARE OCCURRING WITHIN THE CANADIAN RIVER FROM
ABOUT 12 MILES EAST OF LOGAN DOWNSTREAM TOWARD THE TEXAS BORDER.
 
ALTHOUGH NO RIVER GAGE DATA IS AVAILABLE FOR THIS AREA...WATER LEVELS
IN SMALL CONSTRAINED CHANNELS OF THE RIVER MAY RISE AS MUCH AS 20 TO
30 FEET BEFORE MIDNIGHT.
 
EXTREME WATER LEVELS WILL LIKELY EXIST ALONG THIS SECTION OF THE
CANADIAN RIVER THE NEXT 4 TO 6 HOURS.
 
A FLASH FLOOD WARNING...MEANS THAT FLOODING IS OCCURRING OR IS
IMMINENT. KNOW WHERE YOU ARE RELATIVE TO ARROYOS...STREAMS AND
RIVERS WHICH CAN BECOME KILLERS IN HEAVY RAINS. DRY ARROYOS AND
STREAM BEDS CAN BECOME TORRENTS IN A MATTER OF MINUTES FROM LOCAL
HEAVY RAIN OR AS LONG AS SEVERAL HOURS AFTER DISTANT RAINS HAVE
OCCURRED.
