000 TTAA00 KLAS 092235 FFWLAS AZC015-092330- BULLETIN - EAS ACTIVATION REQUESTED FLASH FLOOD WARNING NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE LAS VEGAS NV 334 PM PDT (334 PM MST) MON SEP 9 1996 THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE IN LAS VEGAS HAS ISSUED A FLASH FLOOD WARNING EFFECTIVE UNTIL 430 PM PDT (430 PM MST) FOR PEOPLE IN THE FOLLOWING LOCATIONS...... IN NORTHWEST ARIZONA ...SOUTHEASTERN MOHAVE COUNTY AT 330 PM MST...LAS VEGAS DOPPLER RADAR INDICATED A CLUSTER OF VERY STRONG THUNDERSTORMS EXTENDING FROM WIKIEUP NORTHEAST TO THE AQUARIUS CLIFFS ALONG THE YAVAPAI COUNTY LINE. THESE STORMS WERE MOVING NORTH AT LESS THAN 5 MPH AND FLASH FLOODING IS LIKELY DURING THE NEXT HOUR OR SO FROM CANE SPRINGS WASH SOUTH ALONG THE BIG SANDY RIVER VALLEY TO GRAY WASH. A WEATHER SPOTTER IN WIKIEUP REPORTED VERY HEAVY RAIN ACCOMPANIED BY PEA-SIZED HAIL AND WIND GUSTS ESTIMATED AT 30-40 MPH AT 325 PM. A FLASH FLOOD WARNING MEANS THAT FLOODING IS OCCURRING OR IS IMMINENT. MOST FLASH FLOOD DEATHS OCCUR IN AUTOMOBILES. DO NOT ATTEMPT TO CROSS BRIDGES...DIPS...OR LOW SPOTS IF WATER COVERS THE ROADWAY. NEVER TRY TO CROSS A FLOWING STREAM...EVEN A SMALL ONE...ON FOOT. TO ESCAPE RISING WATER MOVE UP TO HIGHER GROUND. RUNK
