THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE IN TULSA HAS ISSUED A
SEVERE THUNDERSTORM WARNING EFFECTIVE UNTIL 1145 AM CST
FOR PEOPLE IN THE FOLLOWING LOCATIONS...
 
IN NORTHWEST ARKANSAS

AT 1105 AM...THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE RADAR IN TULSA INDICATED A A
LINE OF SEVERE THUNDERSTORMS EXTENDING FROM 5 MILES SOUTH OF ALMA TO 2
MILES NORTH OF HACKETT. THE LINE OF STORMS WAS MOVING EAST NORTHEAST AT
40 MPH. THIS LINE OF STORMS HAS ALREADY PRODUCED WIND GUSTS OF OVER 50
MPH IN THE FORT SMITH AREA.
 
GREENWOOD...LAVACA...AND MULBERRY MAY EXPERIENCE DAMAGING THUNDERSTORM
WINDS.
 
 
DAMAGING WINDS WITH GUSTS UP TO 65 MPH WILL OCCUR WITH THIS LINE OF
THUNDERSTORMS.  IF YOU ARE IN THE PATH OF THESE STORMS SEEK SHELTER
IMMEDIATELY IN THE LOWEST FLOOR OF YOUR BUILDING OR HOME.  STAY
AWAY FROM OUTSIDE WALLS AND WINDOWS.  IF YOU ARE IN A MOBILE HOME
YOU SHOULD MOVE TO A MORE SUBSTANTIAL STRUCTURE IF ONE IS NEARBY.

...ARCTIC COLD FRONT MOVING ACROSS EASTERN OKLAHOMA...

AN ARCTIC COLD FRONT CONTINUED TO MOVE SOUTHWARD ACROSS EASTERN
OKLAHOMA THIS MORNING. AT 1000 AM...THE FRONT EXTENDED FROM THE
NORTHWEST TIP OF ARKANSAS TO NEAR MUSKOGEE TO JUST SOUTH OF
HENRYETTA.

TEMPERATURES AHEAD OF THE FRONT WERE IN THE 60S AND LOWER 70S WITH
GUSTY SOUTH AND SOUTHWEST WINDS. BEHIND THE FRONT...WINDS WERE FROM
THE NORTHWEST AND TEMPERATURES WERE FALLING THROUGH THE 30S AND 40S.
THE FRONT WILL CONTINUE TO MOVE SOUTH THIS AFTERNOON...AND WILL MOVE
THROUGH ALL OF EASTERN OKLAHOMA AND NORTHWEST ARKANSAS BY LATE THIS
AFTERNOON.

SCATTERED SHOWERS AND THUNDERSTORMS WERE DEVELOPING ALONG AND AHEAD
OF THE FRONT ACROSS SOUTHEAST OKLAHOMA AND NORTHWEST ARKANSAS. BEHIND
THE FRONT...AREAS OF FOG AND DRIZZLE WERE REPORTED.

SOME LIGHT FREEZING DRIZZLE WILL BE POSSIBLE THROUGH THE AFTERNOON
HOURS ACROSS NORTHEAST OKLAHOMA AS TEMPERATURES FALL TO NEAR OR BELOW
FREEZING. ALTHOUGH WIDESPREAD TRAVEL PROBLEMS ARE NOT ANTICIPATED...
SOME SLICK SPOTS COULD DEVELOP ON BRIDGES AND OVERPASSES ESPECIALLY
NORTH AND WEST OF THE TULSA AREA.

RESIDENTS OF EASTERN OKLAHOMA AND NORTHWEST ARKANSAS ARE URGED TO
TAKE APPROPRIATE MEASURES TO PREPARE FOR THE RETURN TO WINTER
WEATHER.
