ARZ001-002-010-011-019-029-OKZ054>077-201200- EASTERN OKLAHOMA/NORTHWEST ARKANSAS THUNDERSTORM OUTLOOK NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE TULSA OK 100 PM CDT FRI APR 19 1996 ISOLATED SEVERE THUNDERSTORMS ARE POSSIBLE LATE THIS AFTERNOON AND THIS EVENING OVER PARTS OF SOUTHEAST OKLAHOMA AND WESTCENTRAL ARKANSAS GENERALLY SOUTH AND EAST OF A MCALESTER TO FORT SMITH LINE. EARLY THIS AFTERNOON A COLD FRONT WAS LOCATED ACROSS CENTRAL OKLAHOMA WITH A DRY-LINE AHEAD OF THE COLD FRONT LOCATED FROM NEAR TULSA TO ARDMORE. ALSO A STRONG UPPER LEVEL DISTURBANCE WAS LOCATED OVER THE CENTRAL PLAINS. AS TEMPERATURES CONTINUE TO WARM OVER SOUTHEAST OKLAHOMA...ISOLATED SEVERE THUNDERSTORMS COULD DEVELOP AHEAD OF THE DRY-LINE AFTER 5 PM WHICH MAY MOVE INTO EXTREME SOUTHEAST OKLAHOMA AND WESTCENTRAL PARTS OF ARKANSAS THIS EVENING. THE PRIMARY INHIBITING FACTOR FOR WIDESPREAD THUNDERSTORM DEVELOPMENT THIS AFTERNOON IS A LAYER OF VERY WARM AIR IN THE MID LEVELS OF THE ATMOSPHERE. THE INTENSITY OF THIS WARM LAYER SUGGESTS THAT ONLY A SLIGHT CHANCE OF THUNDERSTORMS EXISTS MAINLY AFTER 5 PM. OTHER LIMITING FACTORS INCLUDED RELATIVELY SHALLOW MOISTURE IN THE LOW LEVELS OF THE ATMOSPHERE AND A LACK OF STRONG CONVERGENCE OR LIFTING ALONG THE DRY-LINE. DUE TO THE HIGH AMOUNT OF INSTABILITY OVER THE THREAT AREA...A THUNDERSTORM THAT DOES BREAK THROUGH THE CAP WILL LIKELY BE SEVERE WITH LARGE HAIL AND STRONG WINDS THE PRIMARY THREAT. THE VERTICAL WIND PROFILE ALSO SUGGESTS ISOLATED TORNADOES MAY BE POSSIBLE. STORM SPOTTER GROUPS AND EMERGENCY MANAGEMENT AGENCIES IN SOUTHEAST OKLAHOMA SHOULD MONITOR THE LATEST WEATHER INFORMATION...AND BE PREPARED FOR POSSIBLE ACTIVATION LATE THIS AFTERNOON OR \THIS EVENING.
