000 TTAA00 KTOP 080615 FFWTOP KSC157-080815- BULLETIN - EAS ACTIVATION REQUESTED FLASH FLOOD WARNING NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE TOPEKA KS 116 AM CDT MON JUL 8 1996 THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE IN TOPEKA HAS ISSUED A FLASH FLOOD WARNING EFFECTIVE UNTIL 315 AM CDT FOR PEOPLE IN THE FOLLOWING LOCATION... IN NORTH CENTRAL KANSAS ...REPUBLIC COUNTY AT 108 AM...THE REPUBLIC COUNTY SHERIFF REPORTED WATER OVER U.S. HIGHWAY 36 4 MILES EAST OF BELLEVILLE...WHICH IS ABOUT 15 MILES NORTH OF CONCORDIA. WATER WAS ALSO FLOODING MANY OF THE STREETS IN THE TOWN OF BELLEVILLE. RADAR ESTIMATES OF 2.5 TO 3.5 INCHES OF RAIN HAVE ALREADY FALLEN OVER THIS AREA IN A SHORT TIME. DOPPLER RADAR INDICATES MORE TORRENTIAL RAINFALL IS TO OCCUR OVER REPUBLIC COUNTY THROUGH 2 AM...LEADING TO FURTHER FLOODING PROBLEMS OF STREAMS AND TRIBUTARIES IN REPUBLIC COUNTY. BE ESPECIALLY CAUTIOUS AT NIGHT WHEN IT IS HARDER TO RECOGNIZE THE DANGER OF FLOODING. NEVER ATTEMPT TO CROSS A FLOODED ROADWAY...AS MOST FLOOD RELATED DEATHS OCCUR IN AUTOMOBILES. DDN &
