000 TTAA00 KSAN 292134 FFWSAN CAC073-292330- BULLETIN - EAS ACTIVATION REQUESTED FLASH FLOOD WARNING NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE SAN DIEGO CA 231 PM PDT MON JUL 29 1996 THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE IN SAN DIEGO HAS ISSUED A FLASH FLOOD WARNING EFFECTIVE UNTIL 430 PM PDT FOR PEOPLE IN THE FOLLOWING LOCATION... IN SOUTHWEST CALIFORNIA ...SOUTHEASTERN SAN DIEGO COUNTY AT 2:30 PM SAN DIEGO DOPPLER RADAR INDICATED A STRONG THUNDERSTORM WITH VERY HEAVY RAIN 5 MILES SOUTH OF MT LAGUNA. THIS STORM WAS MOVING SOUTH AT 5 MILES PER HOUR. FLASH FLOODING IS EXPECTED IN THE KITCHEN CREEK AND THE LA POSTA CREEK RIVER BASINS. ^ DO NOT DRIVE YOUR VEHICLE INTO AREAS WHERE THE WATER COVERS THE ROADWAY. AREA FORECAST DISCUSSION NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE SAN DIEGO CA 130 pM PDT MON JUL 29 1996 tstrms erupting on all ridge lines except sna mts. main action currently south of anza and just south of the border. have ffs prepared for cuyamaca and henshaw areas...but will wait to see how pattern actually develops. avn has changed and does not have pva over coast this pm...but tue am-tue pm. so may have to drop tstrm chance on coasts for tdy. tops of cb near 30k currently. 700 rh along coast tdy does not correspond with any pva. pva tmwr on coast does not correspond with any 700mb rh. 700 rh definitely lower by thu. it looks like were just going to stay in sctrd mt/valley tstrm pattern for a while... with today and tomorrow being a relative peak in the action. AT 120 PM SAN DIEGO DOPPLER RADAR AND SATELLITE IMAGERY INDICATED THUNDERSTORMS OVER THE SAN DIEGO COUNTY MOUNTAINS. AT 100 PM... ONE-QUARTER INCH OF RAIN WAS REPORTED BY A STORM SPOTTER IN MT LAGUNA WITH THE PASSAGE OF A BRIEF HEAVY RAIN SHOWER. ANOTHER STRONG STORM WAS LOCATED OVER BOULEVARD IN SOUTHEAST SAN DIEGO COUNTY. THESE STORMS WERE MOVING NORTH AT 10 MPH AND WILL AFFECT MUCH OF SOUTH-CENTRAL AND SOUTHEASTERN SAN DIEGO COUNTY THROUGH 3 PM.
