FLASH FLOOD WARNING EFFECTIVE UNTIL 1100 PM EDT
FOR PEOPLE IN THE FOLLOWING LOCATIONS...
 
IN NORTH CENTRAL WEST VIRGINIA
 
   ...SOUTHERN CALHOUN COUNTY...WESTERN GILMER COUNTY
 
THUNDERSTORMS ARE MOVING NORTHWARD OVER THE SAME AREA. THE AREAS MOST
VULNERABLE IN GILMER COUNTY ARE ALONG STEER CREEK AND ITS FEEDER STREAMS
AS WELL AS GRASS RUN. IN CALHOUN COUNTY THE UPPER REACHES OF THE LITTLE
KANAWHA ARE MOST VULNERABLE. THE THUNDERSTORM ACTIVITY IS EXPECTED TO
CONTINUE OVER THE NEXT COUPLE HOURS. THIS WILL PUSH SOME STREAMS OUT OF
THEIR BANKS WHERE THE HEAVY PRECIPITATION IS CONCENTRATED. ANYONE LIVING
IN THESE AREAS SHOULD KEEP ON THE ALERT.
 
 
MOST DEATHS IN FLASH FLOODING OCCUR IN AUTOMOBILES.  DO NOT
ATTEMPT TO CROSS BRIDGES...DIPS...OR LOW SPOTS IF WATER COVERS
THE ROADWAY.  NEVER TRY TO CROSS A FLOWING STREAM...EVEN A
SMALL ONE...ON FOOT. DO NOT DRIVE AROUND POLICE BARRICADES.
