000 TTAA00 KRNO 132313 COR FFWRNO NVC005-031-510-140100- BULLETIN - EAS ACTIVATION REQUESTED FLASH FLOOD WARNING NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE RENO NV 400 PM PDT TUE AUG 13 1996 THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE IN RENO HAS ISSUED A FLASH FLOOD WARNING EFFECTIVE UNTIL 600 PM PDT FOR PEOPLE IN THE FOLLOWING LOCATIONSS... IN WESTERN NEVADA ...DOUGLAS COUNTY...CARSON CITY...AND SOUTHERN WASHOE COUNTY INCLUDING THE CITIES OF RENO...SPARKS ...CARSON CITY. STRONG THUNDERSTORMS WITH HEAVY RAIN WILL CONTINUE OVER EXTREME WESTERN NEVADA UNTIL EARLY THIS EVENING. FLOODING HAS BEEN REPORTED IN THE GARDNERVILLE AREA AND IN SOUTH LAKE TAHOE. AT 4 PM DOPPLER RADAR INDICATED THE STRONGEST STORMS OVER WESTERN DOUGLAS COUNTY NEAR GENOA AND OVER THE RENO AND CARSON CITY MOVING NORTHEAST ABOUT 15 TO 20 MPH. A FLASH FLOOD WARNING MEANS THAT FLOODING IS OCCURRING OR IS IMMINENT. MOST FLASH FLOOD DEATHS OCCUR IN AUTOMOBILES. DO NOT ATTEMPT TO CROSS BRIDGES...DIPS...OR LOW SPOTS IF WATER COVERS THE ROADWAY.
