000 TTAA00 KRDU 251642 FFWRDU NCC081-251845- BULLETIN - EBS ACTIVATION REQUESTED FLASH FLOOD WARNING NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE RALEIGH/DURHAM NC 1240 PM EDT THU JUL 25 1996 THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE IN RALEIGH/DURHAM HAS ISSUED A FLASH FLOOD WARNING EFFECTIVE UNTIL 245 PM EDT FOR PEOPLE IN THE FOLLOWING LOCATION... IN NORTH CENTRAL NORTH CAROLINA ...GUILFORD COUNTY AT 1238 PM WEATHER SERVICE RADAR SHOWED STRONG THUNDERSTORMS PRODUCING TORRENTIAL DOWNPOURS OVER GUILFORD COUNTY. THE STORMS EXTENDED FROM HIGH POINT TO NEAR GREENSBORO. HIGH POINT POLICE REPORTED HIGH WATER ON SEVERAL ROADS IN THE SOUTHERN PART OF THE CITY. DOPPLER RADAR ESTIMATED THAT OVER 3 INCHES OF RAIN HAS FALLEN IN AND JUST EAST OF HIGH POINT DURING THE LAST HOUR. REMEMBER...75 PERCENT OF ALL FLOOD RELATED DEATHS RESULT FROM PEOPLE DRIVING INTO FLOOD WATERS OR CHILDREN PLAYING NEAR FLOODED CREEKS OR STORM DRAINS.
