THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE IN RALEIGH/DURHAM HAS ISSUED A
FLASH FLOOD WARNING EFFECTIVE UNTIL 1000 PM EDT
FOR PEOPLE IN THE FOLLOWING LOCATION...
 
IN NORTH CENTRAL NORTH CAROLINA
 
   ...WESTERN GUILFORD COUNTY
 
AT 750 PM...WEATHER SERVICE DOPPLER RADAR INDICATED A LINE OF SHOWERS
AND THUNDERSTORMS EXTENDING FROM WESTERN GUILFORD COUNTY TO WESTERN
STANLEY COUNTY. THE SHOWERS AND STORMS WERE MOVING TOWARD THE NORTH
AROUND 15 MILES AN HOUR AND WILL BE PASSING OVER THE SAME AREA OF
WESTERN GUILFORD COUNTY IN SUCCESSION.
 
NUMEROUS REPORTS OF STREET AND HIGHWAY FLOODING HAVE BEEN RECEIVED
FROM HIGH POINT.  IN ADDITION...MANY DRAINAGE BASINS IN THE AREA HAVE
BEEN FLOODED AS WELL.  WITH MORE SHOWERS AND STORMS EXPECTED TO PASS
OVER THE AREA DURING THE NEXT 2 HOURS...CONDITIONS ARE EXPECTED TO
WORSEN.
 
FLOOD WATERS ARE HARDER TO SEE AT NIGHT AND MOST FLASH FLOOD
FATALITIES OCCUR AT NIGHT.  AVOID DRIVING ACROSS FLOODED ROADWAYS.
WATER TWO FEET DEEP CAN FLOAT MOST CARS OFF THE ROAD.  REPORT
FLOODING TO LOCAL EMERGENCY OFFICIALS IMMEDIATELY.
