NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE NEW YORK NY 734 PM EDT MON JUL 8 1996 THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE IN NEW YORK HAS ISSUED A FLASH FLOOD WARNING EFFECTIVE UNTIL 930 PM EDT FOR THE PEOPLE IN THE FOLLOWING LOCATION... IN NORTHEAST NEW JERSEY ...UNION COUNTY AS OF 730 PM...BETWEEN 1 AND 2 INCHES OF RAIN HAVE FALLEN WITH THIS EVENING/S THUNDERSTORMS...PRODUCING SOME STREET FLOODING. ROUTE 22 IN SCOTCH PLAINS WAS CLOSED DUE TO HIGH WATER. THE THUNDERSTORMS RESPONSIBLE FOR THE FLOODING WILL MVOE OUT OF THE COUNTY BY 815 PM. MOST DEATHS IN FLASH FLOODING OCCUR IN AUTOMOBILES.
