000 TTAA00 KMHX 300043 SVRMHX NCC079-107-300130- BULLETIN - IMMEDIATE BROADCAST REQUESTED SEVERE THUNDERSTORM WARNING NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE NEWPORT NC 843 PM EDT WED MAY 29 1996 THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE IN NEWPORT HAS ISSUED A SEVERE THUNDERSTORM WARNING EFFECTIVE UNTIL 930 PM EDT FOR PEOPLE IN THE FOLLOWING LOCATIONS... IN EAST CENTRAL NORTH CAROLINA ...SOUTHERN GREENE COUNTY...LENOIR COUNTY AT 841 PM NATIONAL WEATHER DOPPLER RADAR IN NEWPORT INDICATED A SEVERE THUNDERSTORM IN NORTHERN WAYNE COUNTY WITH A HISTORY OF DAMAGING WINDS AND LARGE HAIL. THIS STORM WAS MOVING SOUTHEAST AT 30 MPH AND SHOULD PASS THROUGH EXTREME SOUTHERN GREENE COUNTY NEAR JASON AROUND 9 PM AND INTO LENOIR COUNTY SHORTLY AFTER 9 PM. PERSONS FROM LAGRANGE TO NEAR KINSTON SHOULD TAKE COVER IMMEDIATELY. THIS IS A DANGEROUS STORM. IF YOU ARE IN ITS PATH YOU SHOULD PREPARE FOR DAMAGING WIND IN EXCESS OF 55 MPH...LARGE HAIL...AND DEADLY LIGHTNING. PEOPLE OUTSIDE SHOULD MOVE TO A SHELTER...
