THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE IN NEWPORT HAS ISSUED A
FLOOD WARNING EFFECTIVE UNTIL 1100 PM EDT
FOR PEOPLE IN THE FOLLOWING LOCATIONS...
 
IN EAST CENTRAL NORTH CAROLINA
 
   ...CARTERET COUNTY...CRAVEN COUNTY...DUPLIN COUNTY
   ...JONES COUNTY...ONSLOW COUNTY...PAMLICO COUNTY
 
AT 5 PM DOPPLER RADAR INDICATED VERY HEAVY RAIN ASSOCIATED WITH FRAN
WILL CONTINUE TO LIFT NORTH ACROSS MOST OF EASTERN NORTH CAROLINA.
RAINFALL AMOUNTS OF 3 TO 6 INCHES ARE LIKELY DURING THE NEXT SEVERAL
HOURS. MANY AREAS ACROSS THE REGION HAVE SATURATED GROUND AND ANY
ADDITIONAL HEAVY RAIN WILL LEAD TO FLOODING OF URBAN AND POOR DRAINAGE
AREAS.
 
 
DO NOT DRIVE YOUR VEHICLE INTO AREAS WHERE THE WATER COVERS THE
ROADWAY.  THE WATER DEPTH MAY BE TOO GREAT TO ALLOW YOUR CAR TO
CROSS SAFELY.  VEHICLES CAUGHTJ IN RISING WATER SHOULD BE
ABANDONED QUICKLY.  MOVE TO HIGHER GROUND.
