THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE IN NEW ORLEANS HAS ISSUED A
FLASH FLOOD WARNING    EFFECTIVE UNTIL  415 PM CDT
FOR RESIDENTS IN THE FOLLOWING LOCATIONS...
 
IN SOUTH MISSISSIPPI
 
   ...HARRISON COUNTY...JACKSON COUNTY
 
HEAVY TROPICAL RAINS HAVE IMPACTED THE COASTAL COUNTIES OF MISSISSIPPI
THIS MORNING WITH SEVERAL INCHES OF RAINFALL IN A SHORT AMOUNT OF TIME.
THE HIGHLY UNSTABLE ENVIRONMENT WILL MAKE CONTINUED HEAVY RAINFALL
LIKELY THROUGHOUT THE AFTERNOON.
 
WSR-88D RADAR RAINFALL ESTIMATES INDICATED THAT NEARLY SEVEN AND A HALF
INCHES OF RAINFALL MAY HAVE ALREADY FALLEN THIS MORNING BETWEEN GULFPORT
AND MOSS POINT.  LOCAL AUTHORITIES HAVE REPORTED NUMEROUS STREETS
FLOODED AND SOME HOMES BEING THREATENED BY FLOOD WATERS.
 
RAINFALL WILL BE INTERMITTENT THROUGHOUT THE REMAINDER OF THIS MORNING
AND DURING THE AFTERNOON. SOME BREAKS OF THIRTY TO FORTY-FIVE MINUTES
SHOULD OCCUR IN BETWEEN SHOWERS BUT RAINFALL RATES WILL BE IN THE 2-3
INCH PER HOUR RANGE.
 
DO NOT DRIVE YOUR VEHICLE INTO AREAS WHERE THE WATER COVERS THE
ROADWAY.  THE WATER DEPTH MAY BE TOO GREAT TO ALLOW YOUR CAR TO
CROSS SAFELY.  VEHICLES CAUGHT IN RISING WATER SHOULD BE
ABANDONED QUICKLY.  MOVE TO HIGHER GROUND.
