THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE IN JACKSON HAS ISSUED A
FLASH FLOOD WARNING EFFECTIVE UNTIL 1000 PM EDT
FOR PEOPLE IN THE FOLLOWING COUNTY...

IN SOUTHEAST KENTUCKY

   ...NORTHERN FLOYD
 
EARLY THIS EVENING...RADAR INDICATED A STRONG THUNDERSTORM THAT WAS
NEARLY STATIONARY OVER NORTHERN FLOYD COUNTY NEAR BONANZA OR 22 MILES
NORTHEAST OF JACKSON.  RAINFALL ESTIMATES FROM THIS STORM RANGE FROM
1.3 TO 2.0 INCHES IN AN HOUR.  THIS KIND OF RAIN WILL LIKELY PRODUCE
RAPID RUNOFF IN THE STEEP TERRAIN...AND COULD CAUSE SMALL STREAMS AND
CREEKS TO OVERFLOW THEIR BANKS.

WATER MAY COVER THE ROAD FROM TIME TO TIME THIS EVENING...ESPECIALLY
IN LOW LYING AREAS.

ADDITIONAL RAINFALL IS LIKELY IN NORTHERN FLOYD COUNTY THIS EVENING AS
MORE THUNDERSTORMS MOVE INTO SOUTHEAST KENTUCKY FROM THE WEST.
 
DO NOT DRIVE YOUR VEHICLE INTO AREAS WHERE WATER COVERS THE
ROADWAY.  THE WATER DEPTH MAY BE TOO GREAT TO ALLOW YOUR CAR TO
CROSS SAFELY.  VEHICLES CAUGHT IN RISING WATER SHOULD BE ABANDONED
QUICKLY.  MOVE TO HIGHER GROUND.
