MSZ001>082-131300- MISSISSIPPI THUNDERSTORM OUTLOOK NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE JACKSON MS 940 PM CDT FRI APR 12 1996 ...SEVERE THUNDERSTORMS THREATEN WESTERN MISSISSIPPI TONIGHT... THE FIRST OF POSSIBLY THREE WEATHER SYSTEMS TO AFFECT MISSISSIPPI WILL MOVE IN FROM THE WEST LATE TONIGHT. STRONG TO SEVERE THUNDERSTORMS COULD FORM OVER WESTERN MISSISSIPPI AFTER MIDNIGHT AND MOVE AS FAR EAST AS ROUGHLY INTERSTATE 55 BY MORNING. A STRONG UPPER LEVEL DISTURBANCE WILL SEND THIS FIRST ROUND OF THUNDERSTORMS INTO THE REGION. THE PRIMARY TYPE OF SEVERE WEATHER SHOULD COME FROM LARGE HAIL OR DAMAGING WINDS. A VERY WARM...MOIST AND UNSTABLE AIRMASS WILL REMAIN OVER THE REGION SATURDAY WITH MORE POTENTIAL FOR SEVERE STORM DEVELOPMENT. THE STRONGER THUNDERSTORM THREATS MAY COME SATURDAY EVENING AND AGAIN SUNDAY AFTER- NOON AS A COLD FRONT SWINGS INTO THE PICTURE. EMERGENCY MANAGEMENT...HAM RADIO AND SPOTTER PERSONNEL WILL PROBABLY BE NEEDED FOR HELP IN SEVERE WEATHER DETECTION AT SOME POINT THROUGH THE WEEKEND. RESIDENTS SHOULD KEEP IN TOUCH WITH LATER WEATHER DEVELOPMENTS AS THESE SPRING STORMS CROSS THE MAGNOLIA STATE.
