000 TTAA00 KIND 191657 FFWIND INC097-191900- BULLETIN - EAS ACTIVATION REQUESTED FLASH FLOOD WARNING NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE INDIANAPOLIS IN 1155 AM EST WED JUN 19 1996 THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE IN INDIANAPOLIS HAS ISSUED A FLASH FLOOD WARNING EFFECTIVE UNTIL 200 PM EST FOR PEOPLE IN THE FOLLOWING LOCATION... IN CENTRAL INDIANA ...MARION COUNTY AT 1150 AM EST...RADAR INDICATED STRONG THUNDERSTORMS IN MARION COUNTY PRODUCING TORRENTIAL RAINS AND WIND GUSTS TO 50 MPH. SURFACE OBSERVATIONS AT THE INDIANAPOLIS AIRPORT INDICATED 0.75 INCHES IN 25 MINUTES WITH HEAVY RAIN STILL CONTINUING. THIS AMOUNT OF RAIN IN SUCH SHORT DURATION WILL CAUSE SIGNIFICANT WATER PROBLEMS ON ROADS. VISIBILITY WILL BE NEAR ZERO AT TIMES FOR DRIVERS. SMALLER STREAMS WILL RAPIDLY RISE AND MAY EXCEED BANKFULL IN AREAS TYPICALLY PRONE TO FLOODING. A FLASH FLOOD WARNING MEANS THAT FLOODING IS OCCURRING OR IS IMMINENT.
