000 TTAA00 KGRR 161853 FFWGRR MIC021-162100- BULLETIN - EAS ACTIVATION REQUESTED FLOOD WARNING NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE GRAND RAPIDS MI 253 PM EDT THU MAY 16 1996 THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE IN GRAND RAPIDS HAS ISSUED A FLOOD WARNING EFFECTIVE UNTIL 500 PM EDT FOR PEOPLE IN THE FOLLOWING LOCATION... IN SOUTHWEST LOWER MICHIGAN ...SOUTHERN BERRIEN COUNTY A 250 PM EDT NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE DOPPLER RADAR INDICATED THUNDERSTORMS MOVING SOUTHEAST THROUGH BERRIEN COUNTY. SOME OF THESE STORMS HAVE DROPPED 1 TO 2.5 INCHES OVER THE AREA SINCE NOON. ADDITIONAL RAINFALL AMOUNTS OF 1 TO 2 INCHES ARE POSSIBLE BY 5 PM EDT. THE HEAVEST BAND OF RAINFALL EXTENDS FROM LAKESIDE TO GALIEN TO DAYTON. DO NOT DRIVE YO^UR VEHICLE INTO AREAS WHERE THE WATER COVERS THE ROAD. THE WATER DEPTH MAY BE TOO GREAT TO ALLOW YOU TO CROSS SAFELY. VEHICLES CAUGHT IN RISING WATER SHOULD BE ABANDONED QUICKLY... AND YOU SHOULD MOVE TO HIGHER GROUND. MLW
