SEVERE WEATHER OUTLOOK FOR NORTH TEXAS
NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE FORT WORTH TX
1130 AM CDT THU MAY 30 1996

THERE IS A SLIGHT RISK OF SEVERE THUNDERSTORMS THIS AFTERNOON THROUGH
EARLY TONIGHT OVER ALL OF NORTH TEXAS.

A WARM FRONT NEAR A NACOGDOCHES TO HILLSBORO TO ABILENE LINE AT
MIDDAY WILL CONTINUE TO MOVE SLOWLY NORTHWARD TODAY AND TONIGHT AS
LOW PRESSURE INTENSIFIES OVER THE CENTRAL PLAINS. WARM...MOIST...
UNSTABLE AIR WILL BE DRAWN UP AND OVER THE FRONT AND THUNDERSTORMS
ARE EXPECTED TO DEVELOP OVER MUCH OF NORTH TEXAS BY EARLY TONIGHT.
THUNDERSTORMS WILL BEGIN TO AFFECT THE NORTHERN PORTIONS OF NORTH
TEXAS BY EARLY AFTERNOON AS A DEVELOPING COMPLEX OF STRONG TO SEVERE
THUNDERSTORMS MOVES EASTWARD OUT OF THE TEXAS PANHANDLE.

DUE TO STRONG INSTABILITY OVER THE REGION...SOME OF THE STORMS WILL
HAVE THE POTENTIAL TO PRODUCE LARGE HAIL AND STRONG DOWNBURST WINDS.
UPPER LEVEL WIND FIELDS WILL STRENGTHEN THIS AFTERNOON WEST OF A
BONHAM TO DALLAS TO GOLDTHWAITE LINE WITH THE BEST LOW LEVEL WIND
SHEAR EXPECTED IN THIS AREA. SUPERCELL THUNDERSTORMS ARE MOST LIKELY
IN THIS AREA WITH A FEW TORNADOES POSSIBLE.

IN ADDITION TO THE SEVERE WEATHER THREAT...THUNDERSTORMS WILL HAVE
THE POTENTIAL TO PRODUCE LOCALLY HEAVY AMOUNTS OF RAIN.

EMERGENCY MANAGEMENT OFFICIALS AND STORM SPOTTER GROUPS IN NORTH
TEXAS SHOULD BE PREPARED FOR POSSIBLE ACTIVATION THIS AFTERNOON
