...STRONG THUNDERSTORMS WITH LOCALLY HEAVY RAIN AND SMALL HAIL OVER
CENTRAL ARIZONA TODAY...

NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE DOPPLER RADAR HAS BEEN INDICATING SCATTERED
STRONG THUNDERSTORMS DEVELOPING OVER MUCH OF CENTRAL ARIZONA SINCE
ABOUT 10:00 AM MST.  SOME OF THESE STORMS HAVE PRODUCED LOCALLY VERY
HEAVY RAINFALL AND SMALL HAIL.  AT 11:20 AM...THE WEATHER SERVICE
OFFICE IN BELLEMONT RECEIVED VERY HEAVY RAIN AND 1/4 INCH DIAMETER
HAIL COVERING THE GROUND.  RADAR ESTIMATES OF OVER ONE AND A HALF
INCHES OF PRECIPITATION IN AN HOUR WERE INDICATED JUST NORTHEAST OF
FLAGSTAFF NEAR WINONA...AND OVER AN INCH OF PRECIPITATION JUST SOUTH
OF THE FLAGSTAFF AIRPORT...AND NEAR BELLEMONT WEST OF FLAGSTAFF ON I-
40.

AT 11:30 AM MST...DOPPLER RADAR INDICATED THE STRONGEST STORMS WERE
IN THE VICINITY OF FLAGSTAFF...MAINLY JUST SOUTH AND WEST OF
TOWN...AS WELL AS EXTREME SOUTHEASTERN COCONINO COUNTY ALONG THE
MOGOLLON RIM NEAR HAPPY JACK AND THE BLUE RIDGE RESERVOIR.  OTHER
STORMS WERE BEGINNING TO DEVELOP IN PARTS OF YAVAPAI COUNTY NEAR
PRESCOTT AND SOUTH OF CAMP VERDE...AS WELL AS IN THE WHITE MOUNTAINS
OF EAST-CENTRAL ARIZONA.

MOTORISTS AND PEOPLE OUTDOORS IN CENTRAL ARIZONA TODAY SHOULD BE
PREPARED FOR LOCALLY HEAVY RAINFALL...CAUSING MINOR STREET FLOODING
AND REDUCED VISIBILITIES ON ROADWAYS...AS WELL AS RAPID RISEHS IN
SMALL STREAM BEDS AND WASHES.  DEADLY LIGHTNING AND SMALL HAIL WILL
ALSO ACCOMPANY MANY OF THESE STORMS.  TAKE COVER IF YOU ARE OUTDOORS
AND A THUNDERSTORM IS APPROACHING.
