000 TTAA00 KATL 250300 SVRATL GAC115-233-250345- BULLETIN - IMMEDIATE BROADCAST REQUESTED SEVERE THUNDERSTORM WARNING NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE PEACHTREE CITY GA 1059 PM EDT FRI MAY 24 1996 THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE IN PEACHTREE CITY HAS ISSUED A SEVERE THUNDERSTORM WARNING EFFECTIVE UNTIL 1145 PM EDT FOR PEOPLE IN THE FOLLOWING LOCATIONS... IN NORTHWEST GEORGIA ...SOUTHERN FLOYD COUNTY...POLK COUNTY AT 1055 PM EDT NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE DOPPLER RADAR IN PEACHTREE CITY INDICATED A SEVERE THUNDERSTORM IN POLK COUNTY 5 MILES NORTHWEST OF CEDARTOWN. IT WAS SHOWING A SLOW MOVEMENT TO THE NORTHEAST. THIS MAY TAKE IT NEAR CAVE SPRINGS IN FLOYD COUNTY AND THE STORM SHOULD MOVE ALONG THE POLK-FLOYD COUNTY LINE. THE GREATEST THREAT FROM THIS STORM WILL BE HAIL 3/4 INCH OR LARGER. SEVERE THUNDERSTORMS PRODUCE DAMAGING WIND IN EXCESS OF 55 MPH...DESTRUCTIVE HAIL...DEADLY LIGHTNING...AND VERY HEAVY RAIN. FOR YOUR PROTECTION MOVE TO AN INTERIOR ROOM ON THE LOWEST FLOOR OF YOUR HOME OR BUSINESS. HEAVY RAINS FLOOD ROADS QUICKLY SO DON'T DRIVE INTO AREAS WHERE WATER COVERS THE ROAD.
