000 TTAA00 KDTX 072101 TORDTX MIC049-072145- BULLETIN - EAS ACTIVATION REQUESTED TORNADO WARNING NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE DETROIT PONTIAC MI 456 PM EDT FRI JUN 7 1996 THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE IN DETROIT PONTIAC HAS ISSUED A TORNADO WARNING EFFECTIVE UNTIL 545 PM EDT FOR PEOPLE IN THE FOLLOWING LOCATION... IN SOUTHEAST LOWER MICHIGAN ...SOUTHERN GENESEE COUNTY AT 455 PM WEATHER SERVICE RADAR INDICATED A POSSIBLE TORNADO JUST EAST OF BYRON...AND MOVING TOWARD THE NORTHEAST AT 20 MPH. THE CELL WAS MOVING INTO SOUTHWEST GENESEE COUNTY...AND WILL BE LOCATED BETWEEN SWARTCREEK AND LINDEN AROUND 515 PM. SEVERAL PILOTS SPOTTED FUNNEL CLOUDS WITTHIS STORM. AMATUER RADIO OBSERVER ALSO REPORTED A TORNADO NEAR BYRON. IF YOU ARE IN THE PATH OF A TORNADO...THE SAFEST PLACE IS A BASEMENT. GET UNDER A WORKBENCH OR PIECE OF STURDY FURNITURE.
