COUNTY...
 
THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE HAS ISSUED A FLOOD WARNING FOR URBAN AND
SMALL STREAMS EFFECTIVE UNTIL 1230 PM FOR WAYNE COUNTY IN SOUTHEAST
MICHIGAN.  A FLOOD WARNING MEANS THAT FLOODING IS OCCURRING OR IMMINENT.
 
AT 1037 AM...NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE RADAR SHOWED A NEARLY STATIONARY
THUNDERSTORM...PRODUCING VERY HEAVY RAINFALL...OVER THE CITY OF DETROIT.
THIS STORM WAS LOCATED NEAR THE INTERSECTION OF I-75 AND I-94.  RAINFALL
ESTIMATES FROM RADAR INDICATED THAT OVER AN INCH OF RAIN LIKELY HAS
OCCURRED IN THIS AREA SINCE 930 AM.  SINCE THE THUNDERSTORM WAS NEARLY
STATIONARY...RAINFALL AMOUNTS COULD EXCEED 2 INCHES BY NOON.  FLOODING
OF STREETS AND UNDERPASSES IS LIKELY...ESPECIALLY IN AREAS NEAR I-94.
 
DO NOT NDRIVE YOUR VEHICLE INTO AREAS WHERE THE WATER COVERS THE
ROADWAY.  THE WATER DEPTH MAY BE TOO GREAT TO ALLOW YOUR CAR TO
CROSS SAFELY.  VEHICLES CAUGHT IN RISING WATER SHOULD BE
ABANDONED QUICKLY.  MOVE TO HIGHER GROUND.
