NEZ001-002-003-019-020-021-032230- SPECIAL WEATHER STATEMENT NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE CHEYENNE WY 322 PM MDT SAT AUG 3 1996 ...THUNDERSTORMS WERE RUMBLING OVER PARTS OF THE NEBRASKA PANHANDLE... SCATTERED THUNDERSTORMS HAD DEVELOPED OVER WESTERN NEBRASKA THIS AFTERNOON. MOST OF THE STORMS WERE ALONG AND NORTH OF A LINE FROM SCOTTSBLUFF TO ALLIANCE. THE THUNDERSTORMS WERE MOVING NORTHEAST AT 30 MPH. AT 320 PM MDT...THE STRONGEST THUNDERSTORMS WERE LOCATED 35 MILES NORTH OF SCOTTSBLUFF AND 55 MILES NORTH OF SCOTTSBLUFF. THESE STRONGER THUNDERSTORMS WERE LIKELY PRODUCING WIND GUSTS BETWEEN 40 AND 50 MPH...DEADLY LIGHTNING AND POSSIBLY SOME SMALL HAIL. THUNDERSTORMS WILL CONTINUE OVER THE NEBRASKA PANHANDLE WELL INTO THE EVENING HOURS. PEOPLE IN WESTERN NEBRASKA SHOULD BE ALERT FOR THUNDERSTORM DEVELOPMENT.
