THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE IN BUFFALO NY HAS ISSUED A
SEVERE THUNDERSTORM WARNING EFFECTIVE UNTIL 720 PM EDT
FOR PEOPLE IN THE FOLLOWING LOCATION...

IN WESTERN NEW YORK

   ...MONROE COUNTY
 
AT 615 PM...BUFFALO DOPPLER RADAR INDICATED SEVERE THUNDERSTORMS NEAR
BROCKPORT AND OVER THE CITY OF ROCHESTER. THESE STORMS WERE MOVING EAST
TO NORTHEAST AT 20 MILES AN HOUR AND WILL AFFECT THE IMMEDIATE
ROCHESTER METRO AREA. ONE-HALF INCH DIAMETER HAIL WAS REPORTED IN
SUBURBAN GREECE AT 615 PM. THESE STORMS ARE CAPABLE OF PRODUCING
TORRENTIAL RAINS WHICH CAN RESULT IN URBAN FLOODING.
 
SEVERE THUNDERSTORMS PRODUCE DAMAGING WIND IN EXCESS OF 55 MPH
AND/OR HAIL 3/4 INCH OR LARGER. FOR YOUR PROTECTION FROM
POTENTIALLY DAMAGING WINDS...MOVE TO AN INTERIOR ROOM ON THE LOWEST
FLOOR OF YOUR HOMhE OR BUSINESS. HEAVY RAINS MAY ALSO CAUSE RAPID
FLOODING OF SMALL STREAMS AND POOR DRAINAGE AREAS. DON'T ATTEMPT TO
CROSS FLOODED ROADWAYS.
