HOWEVER...A WEAK DISTURBANCE OVER WESTERN COLORADO ALONG WITH MORE MOISTURE AT THE MID LEVLES WILL ALLOW MORE THUNDERSTORM ACTIVITY OVER THE NORTHERN MOUNTAINS AND FOOTHILLS TODAY. THUNDERSTORMS OVER THE HIGHER ELEVATIONS WILL BEGIN POPPING AFTER 1230 PM. OVER THE NORTHEAST...LOW LEVEL MOISTURE AT THE SURFACE HAS INCREASED SLIGHTLY BUT THE ATMOSPHERE STILL REMAINS FAIRLY DRY ABOVE. AT 305 PM MDT NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE DOPPLER RADAR INDICATED A STRONG THUNDERSTORM NEAR CARR OR 25 MILES NORTHEAST OF FORT COLLINS. THIS STORM WAS PRODUCING BRIEF HEAVY RAIN...SMALL HAIL...GUSTY WINDS TO 40 MPH AND DANGEROUS LIGHNTING. THIS STORM WAS MOVING EAST AT 15 MPH AND WILL BE NEAR ROCKPORT BY 320 PM.
