THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE IN BIRMINGHAM HAS ISSUED A
FLASH FLOOD WARNING EFFECTIVE UNTIL  430 PM CST
FOR PEOPLE IN THE FOLLOWING LOCATIONS...
 
IN CENTRAL ALABAMA
 
   ...TALLADEGA COUNTY
 
IN EAST CENTRAL ALABAMA

AT 1221 PM...WEATHER SERVICE RADAR INDICATED LIGHT TO MODERATE RAIN
CONTINUING OVER EAST CENTRAL ALABAMA. RADAR HAS ESTIMATED THAT TWO TO
THREE INCHES OF RAINFALL HAS ALREADY OCCURRED OVER MOST OF TALLADEGA
AND CLAY COUNTIES SINCE THE PRE-DAWN HOURS.
 
MANY STREAMS IN TALLADEGA AND CLAY COUNTIES REMAIN OUT OF THEIR
BANKS...AND A NUMBER OF ROADS ARE UNDER WATER AND CLOSED IN BOTH
COUNTIES.  ADDITIONAL RAINFALL AMOUNTS OF ONE HALF TO ONE INCH
ARE POSSIBLE IN THESE COUNTIES...AGGRAVATING THE FLOODING SITUATION.
 
DO NOT DRIVE YOUR VEHICLE INTO AREAS WHERE THE WATER COVERS THE
ROADWAY.  THE WATER DEPTH MAY BE TOO GREAT TO ALLOW YOUR CAR TO
CROSS SAFELY.  VEHICLES CAUGHT IN RISING WATER SHOULD BE
ABANDONED QUICKLY.  MOVE TO HIGHER GROUND.
 
MOST DEATHS IN FLASH FLOODING OCCUR IN AUTOMOBILES.  DOR NOT
ATTEMPT TO CROSS BRIDGES...DIPS...OR LOW SPOTS IF WATER COVERS
THE ROADWAY.  NEVER TRY TO CROSS A FLOWING STREAM...EVEN A
SMALL ONE...ON FOOT.
