NDZ034-035-172315- SPECIAL WEATHER STATEMENT NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE BISMARCK ND 509 PM CDT (409 PM MDT) WED JUL 17 1996 ...STRONG THUNDERSTORMS MOVING INTO THE BISMARCK/MANDAN AREA... AT 500 PM CDT AN AREA OF THUNDERSTORMS WAS LOCATED 40 MILES WEST OF BISMARCK TO 10 MILES SOUTHEAST OF BISMARCK. THE STORMS WERE MOVING NORTHEAST AT 25 MPH. THE STRONGEST STORMS IN THIS AREA ARE 24 MILES SOUTHWEST OF BISMARCK AND 10 MILES SOUTHEAST OF BISMARCK. THERE HAVE BEEN NUMEROUS REPORTS OF 1 TO 2 INCHES OF RAIN RECEIVED IN LESS THAN 1 HOUR. EARLIER ST. ANTHONY REPORTED 1/2 INCH HAIL AND TORRENTIAL RAIN WHEN ONE OF THE STORMS PASSED OVERHEAD. THE BISMARCK/MANDAN AREA CAN EXPECT THE RAIN TO BEGIN BY 510 WITH STREET FLOODING AND SMALL HAIL LIKELY. A TORNADO WATCH REMAINS IN EFFECT FOR THE AREA UNTIL 10 PM CDT/9 PM MDT. HINTZ &
