THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE IN ALBUQUERQUE HAS ISSUED A
FLASH FLOOD WARNING EFFECTIVE UNTIL  745 PM MDT
FOR PEOPLE IN THE FOLLOWING LOCATION...

IN CENTRAL NEW MEXICO

   ...TORRANCE COUNTY

AT 440 PM RADAR SHOWED AN AREA OF SHOWERS AND THUNDERSTORMS OVER
TORRANCE COUNTY. THE STRONGEST STORMS WERE FROM NORTH OF TORREON TO
I-40. MOVEMENT WAS NORTH AT 5-10 MPH. MORE PRECIPITATION WAS NOTED SOUTH
OF WHERE THE HEAVIER RAIN IS PRESENTLY OCCURRING. RADAR ESTIMATED
INDICATE 1-2 INCHES OF RAIN HAS OCCURRED OVER PORTIONS OF TORRANCE
COUNTY...ADDITIONAL RAINFALL WILL RUN QUICKLY INTO NEARBY ARROYOS AND
DRY WASHES CAUSING RAPID RISES.

REMEMBER...MOST FLASH FLOOD DEATHS OCCUR IN AUTOMOBILES. DO NOT
ATTEMPT TO CROSS BRIDGES...DIPS...OR LOW WATER CROSSINGS IF WATER
COVERS THE ROADWAY. NEVER TRY TO CROSS A FLOWING STREAM...EVEN A
SMALL ONE...ON FOOT. TO ESCAPE RISING WATER MOVE TO HIGHER GROUND.
DO NOT DRIVE AROUND BARRICADES.

THE COMBINATION OF WARM AIR ADVANCING TOWARD THE FRONT AND AN INCREASE
IN MOISTURE ALONG AND JUST AHEAD OF THE FRONT WILL RESULT IN THE
DEVELOPMENT OF WIDELY SCATTERED THUNDERSTORMS ALONG THE FRONT.

WHILE SEVERE WEATHER IS NOT EXPECTED...SOME STRONG STORMS WITH SMALL
HAIL AND 40 MPH WINDS ARE POSSIBLE DURING THE AFTERNOON HOURS NORTH OF A
PITTSBURG KANSAS TO LEBANON TO ROLLA LINE.
