THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE IN ALBUQUERQUE HAS ISSUED A
FLASH FLOOD WARNING EFFECTIVE UNTIL 1030 PM MDT
FOR PEOPLE IN THE FOLLOWING LOCATION...

IN CENTRAL NEW MEXICO

   ...SOUTHEASTERN BERNALILLO COUNTY
   ...WESTERN TORRANCE COUNTY
 
AT 815 PM...DOPPLER RADAR INDICATED A LARGE SEVERE THUNDERSTORM JUST
NORTHWEST OF ESCABOSA ALONG STATE ROAD 337. OTHER STRONG
THUNDERSTORMS HAD DEVELOPED BETWEEN MANZANO AND TORREON. THESE
THUNDERSTORMS WERE PRODUCING VERY HEAVY RAIN OVER FAR SOUTHEAST
BERNALILLO AND WESTERN TORRANCE COUNTIES THAT WILL PRODUCE FLASH
FLOODING. RAINFALL RATES OF 1 TO 2 INCHES PER HOUR ARE LIKELY.

BE ESPECIALLY CAUTIOUS AT NIGHT WHEN IT IS HARDER TO RECOGNIZE THE
DANGERS OF FLASH FLOODING. IF FLOODING IS OBSERVED...ACT QUICKLY.
MOVE UP TO ESCAPE FLOOD WATERS. DO NOT STAY IN AREAS SUBJECT TO
FLOODING WHEN WATER BEGINS RISING.
 
BOTH LOCALIZED AND DISTANT HEAVY RAINFALL WILL CREATE DANGEROUS
FLOWS IN ARROYOS AND OVER LOW WATER CROSSINGS. DO NOT ATTEMPT TO
DRIVE THROUGH THESE WATERS. WATER IN ARROYOS MAY TRAVEL MANY MILES
AND TAKE HOURS TO REACH YOUR LOCATION FROM UPSTREAM RAIN AREAS.
