THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE IN ALBUQUERQUE HAS ISSUED A
FLASH FLOOD WARNING EFFECTIVE UNTIL 1205 AM MDT
FOR PEOPLE IN THE FOLLOWING LOCATIONS...

IN SOUTHEAST NEW MEXICO

   ...WESTERN AND NORTHERN CHAVES COUNTY

IN CENTRAL NEW MEXICO

   ...SOUTHEASTERN LINCOLN COUNTY
 
AT 950 PM MDT...RADAR INDICATED A BAND OF INTENSE THUNDERSTORMS OVER
NORTHWEST CHAVES COUNTY AND THE SOUTHEAST CORNER OF LINCOLN COUNTY.
THE BAND OF THUNDERSTORMS WAS 10 TO 15 MILES WIDE WITH THE BAND OF
STORMS MOVING TOWARDS THE EAST AND NORTHEAST AT 15 TO 20 MPH.

RAINFALL RATES OF ONE TO TWO INCHES AN HOUR ARE ASSOCIATED WITH
THESE THUNDERSTORMS...WHICH SHOULD MOVE INTO THE ROSWELL AREA
BETWEEN 1015 PM AND 1045 PM MDT.  FLASH FLOODING MAY BE OCCURRING
ALREADY NEAR THE COMMUNITIES OF SUNSET AND PICACHO.

BE ESPECDIALLY CAUTIOUS AT NIGHT WHEN IT IS HARDER TO RECOGNIZE THE
DANGERS OF FLASH FLOODING. IF FLOODING IS OBSERVED...ACT QUICKLY.
MOVE UP TO ESCAPE FLOOD WATERS. DO NOT STAY IN AREAS SUBJECT TO
FLOODING WHEN WATER BEGINS RISING.
