THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE IN TOPEKA HAS ISSUED A
FLASH FLOOD WARNING       EFFECTIVE UNTIL 1115 PM CDT
FOR PEOPLE IN THE FOLLOWING LOCATIONS...
 
IN EAST CENTRAL KANSAS
 
   ...LYON COUNTY...SOUTHERN MORRIS COUNTY
 
AT 708 PM DOPPLER RADAR CONTINUED TO SHOW THUNDERSTORMS PRODUCING VERY
HEAVY RAINFALL ACROSS THE SOUTHERN PORTIONS OF MORRIS AND MOST OF LYON
COUNTY. ESTIMATES OF BETWEEN 2 AND 3 INCHES HAVE FALLEN IN THIS AREA
SINCE 5 PM. SOILS ARE SATURATED FROM HEAVY RAINFALL OVERNIGHT AND THIS
ADDITIONAL HEAVY RAIN WILL LEAD TO FLOODING OF MANY STREAMS IN THIS
SOUTHERN MORRIS AND LYON COUNTIES.
 
AT 705 PM EMPORIA SHERIFFS OFFICE REPORTED STREET FLOODING IN THE CITY
OF EMPORIA WITH HEAVY RAIN STILL FALLING.
 
 
MOST FLOODING DEATHS OCCUR IN AUTOMOBILES. DO NOT ATTEMPT TO
CROSS BRIDGES... DIPS... OR LOW SPOTS IF WATER COVERS THE
ROADWAY.  NEVER TRY TO CROSS A FLOWING STREAM...EVEN A SMALL
ONE...ON FOOT.
