SEVERE THUNDERSTORM WARNING
NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE RENO NV
235 PM PDT THU JUN 15 1995

THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE IN RENO NEVADA HAS ISSUED A SEVERE
THUNDERSTORM WARNING EFFECTIVE UNTIL 330 PM PDT FOR PEOPLE IN THE
FOLLOWING LOCATIONS...

IN WESTERN NEVADA

  ...NORTHWESTERN CHURCHILL...SOUTHWESTERN PERSHING COUNTY
   ...INCLUDING LOVELOCK

AT 2:30 PM PDT...RENO DOPPLER RADAR CONTINUED TO DETECT A SEVERE
THUNDERSTORM APPROXIMATELY 20 MILES NORTH OF FALLON.  THE STORM WAS
MOVING NORTH ALONG HIGHWAY 95 AND WAS APPROACHING INTERSTATE 80.
THE PROJECTED STORM MOVEMENT WOULD BRING THE STORM INTO THE LOVELOCK
AREA BETWEEN 3:15 PM AND 3:30 PM PDT.

THE STORMS DID SUBSTANTIAL DAMAGE IN THE FALLON AREA.  SPOTTERS
REPORTED NUMEROUS POWER LINES DOWN AND BROKEN TREE LIMBS.  ONE
SPOTTER ESTIMATED WIND GUSTS AT BETWEEN 70 AND 75 MPH.  THE FALLON
NAVAL AIR STATION ALSO REPORTED A WIND GUST TO 56 MPH AS THE STORM
MOVED ACROSS THE AREA.  

SEVERE THUNDERSTORMS PRODUCE DAMAGING WINDS IN EXCESS OF 57 MPH
...DESTRUCTIVE HAIL...DEADLY LIGHTNING...AND VERY HEAVY RAIN.  BE
AWARE OF THE DANGER OF LOCAL FLOODING CAUSED BY THUNDERSTORM RAINS.
