000 TTAA00 KRNO 122232 FFWRNO NVC005-019-031-510-130230- BULLETIN - EAS ACTIVATION REQUESTED FLASH FLOOD WARNING NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE RENO NV 230 PM PST TUE DEC 12 1995 THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE IN RENO HAS ISSUED A FLASH FLOOD WARNING EFFECTIVE UNTIL 630 PM PST FOR PEOPLE IN THE FOLLOWING LOCATIONSS... IN WEST NEVADA ...DOUGLAS COUNTY...LYON COUNTY...SOUTHERN WASHOE COUNTY AND...CARSON CITY FLASH FLOODING AND FLOODING HAS BEEN REPORTED THROUGH THE WARNING AREA THIS AFTERNOON AND IS LIKELY TO CONTINUE UNTIL EARLY EVENING. FLOODING OF SMALL STREAMS AND UNDERPASSES HAS BEEN REPORTED IN THE RENO AREA WITH WATER OVER ROADWAYS THROUGH DOUGLAS AND LYON COUNTIES. HEAVY RAIN IS EXPECED TO CONTINUE THROUGH THE EVENING HOURS. FLOODING CAN BE EXPECTED BEFORE AND AFTER HEAVY BANDS OF PRECIPITATION MOVE OVER THE AREA. SNOW LEVELS ARE EXPECTED TO LOWER THIS EVENING BECOMING NEAR 5000 FEET BY MIDNIGHT. THIS WILL DECREASE THE THREAT OF FLOODING. A FLASH FLOOD WARNING MEANS THAT FLOODING IS OCCURRING OR IS IMMINENT. MOST FLASH FLOOD DEATHS OCCUR IN AUTOMOBILES. DO NOT ATTEMPT TO CROSS BRIDGES...DIPS...OR LOW SPOTS IF WATER COVERS THE ROADWAY. NEVER TRY TO CROSS A FLOWING STREAM..|.EVEN A SMALL ONE...ON FOOT. TO ESCAPE RISING WATER MOVE UP TO HIGHER GROUND.
