IN SOUTH CENTRAL NORTH CAROLINA ...ANSON COUNTY AT 605 AM...WEATHER SERVICE DOPPLER RADAR INDICATED A TORNADO 5 MILES SOUTHWEST OF WADESBORO MOVING NORTH AT 45 MPH. TORNADOES FROM HURRICANES OR TROPICAL STORMS USUALLY FORM QUICKLY, MOVE RAPIDLY, AND CAN OCCUR REPEATEDLY FROM THE SAME BAND OF STRONG THUNDERSTORMS. IF THIS WARNING AFFECTS YOUR AREA AND YOU HEAR ROARING THUNDER...TAKE COVER UNTIL IT PASSES. REPORT DAMAGE TO EMERGENCY OFFICIALS FOR RELAY TO THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE.

AT 525 AM...ONLY WIDELY SCATTERED LIGHT SHOWERS WERE OVER CENTRAL AND EASTERN NORTH CAROLINA....BUT A BAND OF HEAVY SHOWERS AND THUNDERSTORMS WAS MOVING UP OUT OF SOUTH CAROLINA. THE SHOWERS AND STORMS WERE BETWEEN CHARLOTTE AND CHARLESTON SOUTH CAROLINA AND WERE MOVING NORTH AT 40 MPH AND WILL SPREAD INTO THE SOUTHERN PIEDMONT AND SANDHILLS BY 7 AM. LOCALLY HEAVY DOWNPOURS WILL ACCOMPANY THE SHOWERS AND STORMS AND MAY PRODUCE RAINFALL IN EXCESS OF AN INCH PER HOUR...BUT THE FAST MOVEMENT SHOULD PRECLUDE ANY MAJOR FLOODING PROBLEMS.
