...TORNADO WATCH IN EFFECT FOR ROWAN COUNTY UNTIL 200PM EDT....

THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE HAS ISSUED A TORNADO WATCH FOR THE
WESTERN NORTH CAROLINA COUNTY OF ROWAN.  THIS WATCH IS IN EFFECT
THROUGH 200PM EDT THIS FRIDAY AFTERNOON.

HAIL AND STRONG WINDS ARE POSSIBLE WITH THE PASSAGE OF STRONG TO SEVERE
THUNDERSTORMS....AND THE POSSIBILITY OF TORNADOES EXISTS THROUGHOUT ROWAN
COUNTY THROUGH EARLY THIS AFTERNOON.

AT 740AM EDT WEATHER SERVICE RADAR INDICATED A LARGE AREA OF STRONG
THUNDERSTORMS THROUGHOUT CENTRAL NORTH CAROLINA.  THUNDERSTORMS ARE
EXPECTED TO REMAIN IN THIS PORTION OF NORTH CAROLINA THROUGH THIS
AFTERNOON.

AT 840 AM THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE RADAR AT RALEIGH INDICATED A
STRONG THUNDERSTORM MOVING INTO SOUTHERN FRANKLIN AND NASH COUNTIES NEAR
RILEY. THE STORM WAS MOVING TO THE NORTHEAST AT 45 MPH. THIS STORM HAS
ALREADY PRODUCED SMALL HAIL AND LIGHTNING ALONG WITH HEAVY RAINS.

STRONG THUNDERSTORM MOVING INTO EDGECOMBE COUNTY...AND WILL CONTINUE INTHALIFAX COUNTY. THE STORM WAS LOCATED NEAR ROCKY MOUNT AND LEGGETT AND
LAWRENCE MOVING TOWARD THE NORTHEAST AT 45 MPH. THIS STORM HAS PRODUCED
SMALL HAIL...DAMAGING WINDS AND HEAVY RAINS WITH LIGHTNING.
